Hair Modelling

My best friend is a hairdresser and needed some shots for her portfolio and I also wanted some more variety so she modelled for me and we both decided of how we wanted her hair and make up etc. I edited the photos after and put most of them in black and white and wanted a high contrast. The set up wasn't great but I like them and I like the facial expressions to.

I was a photographer for a local band I knew and went to all there gigs and was there photographer. I posted links on there facebook page to the photos and was also able to add them to my portfolio. I really enjoyed doing this and it was always a great atmosphere the boys were great to work with!

Studio Shoot!

This is a studio shoot I did of a friend for some practice & portfolio work. I concentrated on Fashion and my ideas was based on if it was an advert for a fashion item i.e the jacket, the jeans etc. Thats another part of photography I have an high interest in. I also have a fashion portfolio and would love to do photography for fashion adverts. The studio shoot went well idea wise however the lighting wasn't as great as I had hoped e.g. the shadows which was a shame. I do prefer location work as a pose to studio just because I feel if I can pick the correct location for the shoot then I think I can really get the shots I want. And I always feel fashion on location is much more interesting.

I thought of my shots and the idea behind it I wanted something unusual but still very fashion based. At the end of my shoot I ended up with over 100 photos. I edited quite a few and do think I could design a fashion advert for my portfolio with a few of them.

A few photographs of a couple in the garden. I gave a blurred effect to the edges on some of these photography. I also made the colour warmer. This is the sort of work I'd love to do more of

Here are some photography I took when I went for a long walk though Friston Forest. I edited some into black and want and wanted to get more contrast. I really enjoyed taking these as it was a great day and a very calm atmosphere.

Hello everyone!

I've decided to go private. I'm starting up my own business got a few contacts already. I'm going to concentrate on family portraits, children, pets, groups etc. I don't have my own studio I'm gonna go to friend's houses and do natural shot and location work. Then slowly build on from there.

Final Major Project - Fashion With Emotion

Yesterday I did my 1st shoot for my final major project, I've only done a little bit of research for this so far as I wanted to get some material so I had something to play around with. I used my best friend Jenna to model for me at her home. We used her mums room as it was a little more calmer than her room. The theme for my final major project is Fashion with Emotion as this is what I wanted to experiment with when I did my 1st shoot.

I did do a bit of research on a photographer called Mc Bride who did photographs of an actress called Romy. In these shots she has a range of different emotions and in my shoot I re-invented some of the shots of Romy.

Here are my final 3 images for the Image and Text Assignment. I am really happy with these and I feel it is one of my strongest pieces. These will also be going in my fashion portfolio. I am really happy with the way these images turnt out and I think they fit really well together along with the text to.

She Models

This is a shoot I did on my friend Zoe who I used to go to school with. She is also studying photography at college but she wants to take the opposite direction of the camera and become a model. She came to me at the end of January earlier this year as the modelling agency required updated photos as she had changed her hair colour. I really enjoyed doing this shoot and she was really relaxed and very good infront of the camera. She knew what she wanted and had many ideas for poses and we worked well together thinking of new ideas along the way.

However, I did run into a few errors whilst shooting. I realised how little the studio at my work is and the lighting wasn't great. It was hard to get a full lenth shot of Zoe too. The lighting was a let down as I would of liked to get a clear white background but instead it was a bit dull with shadows.

I did edit a few of these in Photoshop, I've made a few of them lighter and cropped out some of the background. But I do like them and I think she's a stunning model who will go far.

Telling Stories In New Worlds

Image1: Shoes. I really like this image but of the angle I shot it at and I feel its a little different. The way her shoes and clutch are positioned I feel is interesting. I would have liked to zoom in a bit more I feel this would have made it better.

Image 2: This I also like because of the bright colours, even though pink and red clash I still feel it is effective. The positioning of the shoes and clutches work well as I feel this image does tell a story and could lead to many thoughts.

Image 3: I really enjoyed shootting both girls together and as they are best friends they are really relaxed and close with each other. There were lots of laughs to. :-) I like this of Lizzi as she looked really smart and serious like she means business. Shotti acting as a mannequins also works well but in a way these put together is a little bizzaar.

Image 4: This is one of my faviourtes because I like the pose and the way Shotti is looking up at Lizzi with her finger of her chin. Lizzi looks like she is thinking and I like her pose. I think this would work well for a clothing advert of some sort.

Image 5: Finally this image, I must say I really like the way the two girls posed but I wish I took just a little bit more time on the framing of this image and both girls should be more central. I got both girls to look up and look really serious and feel this adds a good efect to the image.

I did an assignment at college called Telling Stories In New Worlds. My idea was to use real people in the studio but get them to act like mannequins . I really enjoyed the shoot as the models were relaxed and it was a good laugh. I used my two friends Lizzi and Shotti to model for me. I also did a test shoot before, photographing mannequins in the studio and I dressed them in different clothing, this also worked out really well.

Underneath The West Pier

This Is A Photograph I Took Of The West Pier A Few Years Ago When I First Got My Sony Digital SLR. I Really Like This Shot Because It Isn't A Shot You Would Normally See Of The West Pier. It's Taken From Underneath. My Dad Really Likes This Image & For One Of His Birthdays I Had It Blown Up To A Really Large Poster Size & He Got It Framed & It Is Now In Our Front Room.

I've Even Sold Copies Of This Photograph & I Also Have It In An Exhibition Along With 5 Other Images That I Have Taken.

Hello!

I am currently doing a 2 year Diploma in Photography and I finish in June where I will be taking a gap year and Then hopefully I'll be off to Fashion College to do a 3 year BA Honour in Fashion Photography.

In my gap year I am hoping to continue on building up a fashion portfolio. I am always going to do event work. I am also hoping to go to Prague for a long weekend as its very pritty for Photography and I may do a project on this.

I enjoy Digital and Film Photography and I like Black and White Photography. I am currently doing an assignment on Image and Text which I am really enjoying and its has been really successful. I am using my friend Eleanor as a model and I have taken shots of her in the mirror. The images are based on a song from The Kings of Leon called "Use Somebody" and the idea behind my images is to show a young girl in need of somebody.

For my 1st image I wanted Eleanor to be looking down in the mirror and the text will be "You know that I could use somebody", the second image is of Eleanor looking directly in the mirror so she is looking directly at the camera, the text for this will be "Somebody, Somebody like you" and finally the third image is going to be of Eleanor looking down in the mirror crying and the text will read "I am Somebody, Somebody".
